Our Founder
Ann Schwetye is the Managing Director of BuildingWorks, Inc. She has been with BuildingWorks Inc. since its incorporation in 1997, assuming full responsibility for leadership. Ann is the visionary force behind the success of BuildingWorks Inc. and its Datasphere™ service offering, and is directly involved in strategic planning, marketing, product development, and quality control for all products and services.
The underlying concept for the product and service offering was born of Ann's own experiences in the building marketplace. While working at Schwetye Architect's, she identified a glaring void in both the closeout manual assembly process and the resulting deliverable; oftentimes a mere fraction of the information required to effectively manage and maintain the structure. Additionally, there was an obvious loss of productivity occurring as builders scrambled to supply documentation; regularly duplicating efforts or being forced to re-submit paperwork as a result of inefficiencies and/or discrepancies.
Ann also recognized that the "average Joe" (to whom she still considers herself a peer) had little use for the somewhat academic information typically supplied in the standard documentation. In contrast, it was her vision to create a product that was truly "building based", rather than "accounting based". This would afford building owners and managers a practical and familiar tool to evaluate maintenance options and keep track of their assets.
Ann's belief (now realized in the Datasphere™ offering) was that a new system of collection and organization, designed to look and perform in a simple fashion, could dramatically increase the usefulness, relevance and value of the closeout documentation. In her words: "Make it look easy and you will have people wanting to use it!" Based on the rapid adoption of the product and service offering, it appears that she was correct...
Ann is active in the business world and her local community, and frequently attends industry events to connect with like-minded peers and potential strategic partners. In 2001, she was recognized for her achievements, receiving the "Businessman of the Year" award from the Missouri Business Advisory Council.
